Denmark is a Nordic country, lies south west of Sweden and south of Norway. Denmark is the southernmost of the Scandinavian nations and is bordered to the south by Germany. The country was a historic seat of Vikings and has now evolved as a great European destination which is also prosperous and modern when compared to ancient times.
Denmark is geographically isolated near the North Pole and the terrain is dominated by forests, minor lakes and extensive coastal dunes. The coastal scenery is quite varied and one can find white dunes to tall limestone cliffs beside the coasts.
The people are friendly and culturally sophisticated with a minimalistic and modest approach towards life, the people are strictly opposed towards being flashy and enjoy companies of friends and family during “Hygge” which basically involves dinners at home with long conservations over candle light and red wine.
Being one of the greenest countries, Denmark is often praised for its cleanliness and responsibility of citizens towards the environment. One can see numerous wind turbines across acres of farm land and plastic bags are almost impossible to find.
One can find numerous kebabs and fast food outlets throughout the country but it is highly recommended to try the fine dining experience here in Denmark. While fine dining is fairly expensive the dishes and cuisine will definitely make the spending worth. The food ranges from picked herring to fried plaice and other assorted sea food items. Food is generally accompanied by a beer and drinking along with meals is generally encouraged as the foods flavor get enhanced by the drinks.
In the past few years Copenhagen has emerged to be a happening place for food enthusiastic and gastronomic travelers as quality is paramount and one would be able to find almost all international cuisine within the country.
