Thailand is a country at the center of the Southeast Asian Indochinese peninsula composed of 76 provinces. With over 68 million people and covering a total area of 198,120 sq. Mi, Thailand is the world’s 50th largest country by area and the 21st most populous country. The country is bordered to the north by Myanmar and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the gulf of Thailand and Malaysia and the west by the Andaman Sea.
The country comprises of several distinct geographical regions with the northern part being hilly and the central part being predominated by flat plains. Chao Phraya and the Mekong River are the important source of fresh water for Thailand’s agriculture and industries and the Andaman Sea is also a precious source of natural resources and home to popular luxury resorts
The climate is influenced by monsoon winds which facilitates heavy rainfall and mild summers and winters. The humidity is high and varies by a little amount across the country.
The country’s national symbol is Elephant and emphasis is given on conservation of wildlife and forests. Much of the country’s national parks and wildlife reserves have a lush green cover and tourism is mainly focused in jungle safaris and water sports.
The country’s local Thai cuisine is renowned worldwide for its freshness and healthy aspect and is focused from the staples like rice and seafood.
